The technology has been developed by a group of developers who have been associated with iPhone, Gmail and various other service providers operating in outsource web development segment.
Each device can be controlled individually therefore removing any requirement of a centralized controller. Imp provides a web based software which allows users to program their devices through a graphical interface. This makes way easier for general users to work on it. Further, connecting the cards to a Wi-Fi network is very simple and kind of slick. You are required to enter the Wi-Fi network name and password and the app will flash light on the imp card. There is a photo-sensor installed in the imp card which uses these pulses of light to send the login information.
To make the installation of Imp cards simpler and easier over varying size of appliances, they have came up with differently sized Imp cards. Moreover, they are talking with various appliance manufacturers so that future devices could be Imp ready right from the manufacturing of appliances. The Imp cards will be made available for developers preview in June. The cards are initially supposed to be sold at $25 each and that does not seem to be too much for having a house closely similar to your dream house.
